Site evaluation
Critical information is gathered, including power outage requirements, such as load calculation showing actual load, generator location, and generator size needed for power outage restoration, along with the appropriate transfer switch. This is all included during our reliable Generac generator installation process. We will explain everything involved with installing your new generator, including our competitive installation cost, and we will only leave once you completely understand.
Quote process and diagram
A complete and thorough explanation of the equipment required for the power needs of your entire home is provided. We will then provide you with a detailed printout of the installation cost proposal and ensure your questions are answered. You will receive a custom folder with spec sheets and brochures so you will be organized and informed through the Generac home backup generator process. REMEMBER… this visit is for educational purposes only, and we will not pressure you to buy on the spot. We will give you the time to think over this purchase because we understand this can be a significant expenditure.
Permitting (if necessary)
If installing in an area that requires permitting, a permit will be applied for and granted before any installation work.
HOA approval (if necessary)
Many Home Owner Associations require approval before installing a home backup generator. We will handle this entirely on your behalf.
Install concrete pad
Concrete pads are pre-formed.
Electrical systems install and inspection
Installing an electrical system incorrectly can damage the electrical connections and equipment not covered under warranty. There is a right and wrong way to wire a whole house standby generator system with a transfer switch. Passing inspection doesn’t always mean it is installed correctly. We painstakingly follow all national and local codes to ensure you get the best generator and transfer switch installation possible.
Plumbing install and inspection
As with installation, there is a right way and a wrong way to plumb a standby generator. Even if a job passes inspection, it must be plumbed correctly. Experience is the best asset to ensure your house generator is installed correctly. From short black pipe installations to long underground natural gas lines or liquid propane tanks, we have the experience to get the job done right.
Gas provider services setup
Generac generators fueled by natural gas or lp run best with elevated pressure. This sometimes requires an upgraded meter from the natural gas or lp provider. We will determine your gas needs on the initial visit and provide documentation and direction to get this done with your natural gas provider. We will help size the correct meter. If propane is needed, we will size your gas needs and assist you in coordinating with our propane supplier for tank size and installation.
Startup and tutorial
After installation of your new Generac generator, we will immediately register your new generator, start it up, and test your new home generator system. We will then lead you through a detailed tutorial covering the operation of the equipment. We will also connect and register your new Mobile Link for cellular monitoring.
